A Few Notes for the Week

– the young count still is at 5 or 6, still haven’t got a definitive count due to the resolution and the huddled hatchlings.
– Weather has been active, one day mornings lows were 17-18 degrees, a few days later another 4-6 inches of rain.
– Lots of Mice around, usually at least 2 in the box, as many as 6 at one time (day before the 18 degree night) The male is quite the mouse hunter.
– Owlets are becoming much more active.
-Male has a couple favorite open roost, a cedar in front of the second box, and a large Yew, that is ~50 feet away from the nest

  1. Fantastic. We still have 4 eggs here in NJ. The first should hatch this week. I see signs of the male roosting in the cedars nearby, but have not spotted him. Good luck.
