Great Horned Owls Still Around

Site 6

Great horned owl(s) were heard midnightish on the June 15, Although they are not heard nearly a frequently as the were before the storm on Feb 26th, they are still in the area. But it is unknown if the were able to have a successful nesting this year. So far no screech owls here, maybe with the horned owls being around less (or at least being heard less) it may open things up for them next year.

Falling Trees

Site 6. no owls in the owlbox (upper center of photo), but no damage either, the pine in the foreground broke off the top of the tree in the background, again Feb 26, 2010
WBZtv has a great slide show that shows the extent of the damage from NE Massachusetts through S. New Hampshire.
Anyway,
A pair of Great Horned owls are heard a few times a week, so they may be nesting on site or very near by. If so hopefully their nest survived the storm.
